About Taxooor
Taxooor is made by Joseph Ellul. It exists because the answer to almost every crypto tax question at filing time has already been written down by the authority that will assess the return, and it is spread across manuals, circulars and FAQ pages that most people never find. This site puts those sentences on one page per jurisdiction, word for word, with a link to the page and the date it was read.
Why this site exists
Crypto tax questions are answered badly in public because the good answer is boring: the authority already published a sentence about it. What circulates instead is a summary of a summary, usually written to sell something, usually undated, and often wrong about a rule that changed. The fix is not another explainer. It is putting the authority's own sentence in front of the reader with the page and the date attached, so anyone can check it and an accountant can cite it.
Who it is for
Someone filing in one country who wants to read what their own tax authority actually wrote about a transaction they made.
Someone holding crypto in more than one jurisdiction who needs the same question answered by two authorities, side by side, in each one's own words.
An accountant or adviser who needs the citation, not the summary, and wants to check it against the page before quoting it to a client.
What it does not do
- It never states a tax rate, threshold or deadline that the page it cites does not carry. If the guidance does not say it, this site does not say it.
- It never renders an empty cell. Where an authority publishes nothing on a question, the page says so and names the page that was read; a blank would be read as 'not taxed', and that is a claim nobody here is making.
- It never paraphrases a quotation into an answer, and it never recommends a course of action. Deciding what to do with a rule is an adviser's job, not a directory's.
- It takes no commission from any tax software or accountant named anywhere on the site, and carries no sponsored placement.
What is on this site
1 guides, each with its sources on the page , 7 answers to the questions around them , and the comparison.
- Check how a jurisdiction taxes a crypto transaction: Almost every question a crypto holder has at filing time has already been answered in writing by their own tax authority, and almost none of the answers are easy to find: they are spread across manual pages, ministry circulars, statute articles and FAQ entries, in several languages, and the summaries that rank for them are written by companies selling software.
Where the figures come from
Primary guidance published by each jurisdiction's own tax authority, each page read on 2026-09-08 and its reduction committed under research/data/entity-graph/sources/crypto-tax-guidance/
Who answers for it
Joseph Ellul, Publisher; responsible for which pages are read, which sentence answers which question, and for correcting anything on this site that misquotes a source.
